Why Doesn’t Starbucks Make Good Hot Tea?

If you have ever been to a Starbucks in the UK, you know they make decent hot tea. If you’re from the US, you’ve likely found out how they do it. Starbucks uses Teavana tea bags, and they don’t have the necessary equipment to make the best tea. There are other factors at play, too. This article will discuss a few of them. If you like hot tea at Starbucks, why doesn’t it taste as good as the coffee?

One of the main reasons is that the water is too hot. Starbucks serves hot water at a temperature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit, which is ideal for brewing coffee but too hot for steeping tea. This temperature makes the tea bitter, so the baristas are forced to double-cup the cups in order to avoid overheating the tea. To compensate, they use ice cubes in the cup.

One of Starbucks’ secret menu items was a drink called the “Medicine Ball Tea.” This was a mix of two different types of tea, including the herbal Peach Tranquility tea and steamed lemonade. The drink has twice as much caffeine as a Chai Tea. Another popular tea drink is the London Fog. The London Fog is a blend of Earl Grey tea with steamed milk and vanilla syrup.

Those who prefer their beverages black should avoid the English breakfast tea. This is a rich black tea that was traditionally blended with sugar and milk. In the U.S., Starbucks offers the English breakfast tea latte. It’s served with 2% steamed milk and liquid cane sugar. It’s available in many stores and costs about $0.50 more. Lastly, there’s the iced tea. This is a mixture of double-strength tea concentrate and steamed milk. It’s the perfect combination of both.
